Rehoboth Historical Museum May Display Dolle’s Candyland Sign

Visitors to the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Museum may one day be greeted by the iconic sign on the boardwalk that has stood over Dolle’s Candyland for decades.

The historical society reportedly hopes to accept the sign and place it at its building on Rehoboth Avenue. Due to the size, it may be attached to the facade of the building instead of on the roof.

The candy store moved out of the prime boardwalk corner to a space off the boardwalk. Grotto Pizza has purchased the building.

Moving the sign would be complicated and expensive, with a cost estimated at $30-thousand. Rehoboth Beach Main Street has indicated it’s willing to raise funds or seek grants for the project.

Rehoboth Beach Commissioners have been considering proposals for the landmark sign. The proposal was discussed at Monday’s work session:
