The road leading to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna has been renamed in honor of Correctional Lt. Steven Floyd, who died in the line of duty during a prison riot in February of 2017.  Corrections Commissioner Perry Phelps says that the newly named road will remind everyone of Lt. Floyd’s bravery and dedication to the DOC.  The dedication ceremony brought together a community in celebration of his bravery, 16 years of service, and the love he had for his family and friends.  The unveiling ceremony was attended by Governor John Carney, Commissioner Phelps, Lt. Floyd’s family and dozens of state officials and officers.
