Update: ‘Boil Water’ Advisory Lifted in Sharptown
Residents of Sharptown are no longer under a ‘boil water’ advisory.
Tests of water samples earlier this week detected the presence of Total coliform bacteria and e-coli bacteria that reached a threshold of concern. Town officials said Wednesday that further testing has found no levels of concern, and Sharptown residents no longer need to boil water before drinking it or cooking with it.
Residents of Sharptown in Wicomico County are being urged to drink bottled water, or to boil water from the taps before using it.
Town officials said Tuesday that recent samples have tested positive for total Coliform Bacteria and E.Coli Bacteria.
Sharptown officials anticipate that the problem will be resolved within 48 hours. The town is working with the Maryland Department of the Environment.
Additional samples were taken Tuesday, but results were not yet available.
