Update: Route 13 Crash in Camden Leaves Pedestrian Dead

UPDATED – Sunday 6/28, 4am – Delaware State Police have identified the man who was struck by an SUV on Route 13 near Lochmeath Way on Friday as 20 year old Thomas Hunt of Wildwood Crest, NJ.  Hunt – a Delmarva Power employee – was walking away from his work truck wearing a florescent yellow safety vest, when the SUV pulled into the shoulder and struck him.  Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the SUV told police his vehicle was having problems when he pulled off the roadway.  The investigation continues.

UPDATED – 5:30pm – A crash Friday morning has left a pedestrian dead in Dover.  Delaware State Police say an employee of Delmarva Power stopped his vehicle on the shoulder of Route 13 just south of Lochmeath Way, activated the yellow flashing light on his truck and wearing his florescent yellow safety vest began walking north of his vehicle.  The driver of an SUV told police his vehicle began to have problems and pulled into the southbound shoulder – striking the pedestrian – a 20 year old man from Wildwood Crest, NJ.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries.  The investigation is continuing.

A portion of southbound Route 13 was closed in Kent County due to an accident investigation.

According to Delaware State Police, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at about 8:45 a.m. Route 13 remained closed for a few hours southbound at Lochmeath Way in Camden.
