Update: 2 Suspects Arrested For Dorchester Co. Shooting Death

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 77-year-old man in Dorchester County Sunday afternoon. One of them is the son of the victim.

According to Maryland State Police, 50-year-old Douglas Lamont McKnight of Cambridge is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, robbery and use of a firearm in a violent crime. 43-year-old Octavius Thomas is charged with first-degree murder and second-degree murder.

Deputies with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday to a reported shooting in the 3,700-block of Ocean Gateway in Linkwood. A preliminary investigation indicates that 77-year-old Douglas Washington McKnight was declared deceased at the scene.

The victim was the father of Douglas Lamont McKnight.

A preliminary investigation indicates that robbery appears to have been the motive in the case.

The Dorchester County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation. State Police said additional arrests are possible.
