WGMD Fishing Report 10-20-19

Saturday was beautiful, if a bit chilly, and I was surprised that only a few folks were fishing.  Gale warnings are up for Sunday and the seas in the ocean won’t drop below four feet until Thursday.

I stopped by Lewes Harbour Marina on Saturday afternoon and almost all the local charter and head boats were tied to the dock.  One private boat had come back from the wall with one tog and one sheepshead.  When I called later in the day for a report the only boat that had come back was the Top Fin with no keeper tog.

The Thelma Dale IV had the same report, no keeper tog.

Burt at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said the better sea bass fishing was closer to shore as the Del-Jersey-Land-Reef did not produce as expected.  Some triggers were mixed in with the sea bass.  Fenwick Shoal produced limits of bluefish.

The Morning Star out of Ocean City had limits of sea bass for her customers.

Old Inlet checked in a five-pound triggerfish for John Rahe caught from the Inlet.  Trout to 20 inches have been taken on jigs fished at the end of the jetties.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
