WGMD Fishing Report 5-14-19

If you didn’t like the weather on Sunday you probably weren’t a big fan of Monday’s version either.  I drove down from Wilmington on Monday morning and it rained as hard as I have ever seen.

The results of Old Inlet’s Spring Surf Fish Tournament had Ted Chick in first place in the Open Division with 225 points, Jack Bovich in second with 189 points, Robert Thompson in Third with 134 points and Patrick Blankinship in fourth with 107 points.

Samantha Casson took first in the Woman’s Division with 59 points and Carla Wright came in second also with 59 points.  The tie is broken with the largest fish.  In third place was Ali Grove with 55 points.

Austin Matthews won the surf rod and reel for the top place in the Kid’s Division.

The Largest Fish was a 44-inch striped bass caught by Chad Bayless worth $1,000.  The Bluefish Calcutta was won by Ron Keefer and paid out $2,000.
