WGMD Fishing Report 5-18-18

Thursday was another damp day with winds from the northeast and sloppy seas.  A couple of boats went out and few hardy surf-casters worked the beach and jetty.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said they saw a black drum come in from Delaware Bay, but nothing else on the cleaning table.  Gerald Shea used mullet on a mullet rig to catch and release a keeper rockfish from Broadkill Beach.  The Joe Morris Memorial Canal Flounder Tournament will get underway at 7:00 AM today.  Fishing will end at 3:00 PM and all fish must be weighed by 4:00.

Dave at Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park reported some three to four-pound blues from the beach to the east of the pier on mullet or bunker.  The occasional keeper flounder has been caught from the pier on a jig head decorated with Gulp!

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle we heard about the surf-casters working the beach at night with black or purple plugs and catching seven to ten-pound blues along with a few keeper rockfish.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
