WGMD Fishing Report 5-21-18

Taking a second trip on the Capt. Ike II with Capt. Dave Collins and mate Brian Joseph, Chris Walker, Rick Sizemore and JC Dennis all from Georgetown, DE had another great day out at the Del-Jersey for black sea bass. They used clams to bring in another limit of the black bass.

Sunday the sun came out, but the wind kept blowing raising small craft advisories on the ocean.

At Lewes Harbour Marina the Miss Kirstin came in with black drum from their Saturday night trip.  The Katydid also had a good catch of black drum.

At Lighthouse Tackle on the pier at Cape Henlopen State Park, Dave reported that blues were caught from the pier early Sunday Morning.  Cut bunker and mullet were the best baits.

We received some great news from Old Inlet Bait and Tackle.  There was a good bite of large rockfish to 44 inches from under the bridge over the inlet on out to the North and South pockets.  It started around 3:00 AM and lasted until sunrise.  Black or purple Bombers, SP Minnows and WindCheaters were responsible for most of the damage.  I applaud those folks who were there when the action took place and bemoan the fact that I was not.  Only time will tell if this is a one shot deal or if the fish will return.

At Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em we also heard about the rockfish run at the inlet.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
