Wednesday saw continued cool and breezy weather.

The big news of the day was a 42-inch rockfish caught and released from the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park.  Kevin Jefferson was soaking a mullet rig when the big linesider hit and he was able to land and release it to fight and breed another day.  We congratulate him on his epic catch.

Brian Gray from Millsboro set the first Maryland Atlantic State Record for white hake with a 16.71-pounder he caught on a clam while sea bass fishing the Poorman’s Canyon.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle reported snapper blues at the inlet in the morning and a run of big blues at Fenwick Island in the afternoon.  The big blues were tearing up tackle and cutting off rigs and lures as they so love to do.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said Heather McTheny caught several big blues on top-water plugs from a boat on Tuesday evening between the Inner Wall and the fishing pier.  Dennis Connell had a 5-pound trout at the Outer Wall.
