WGMD Fishing Report 6-16-19

build-a-better-community-OCMD

Saturday began with moderate south to southwest winds, but they increased as the day went on as did the seas in the ocean.  Sunday looks to have strong south to southwest winds to 25 knots so the ocean and bay may still be off limits.

Father’s Day should bring dry and sunny weather so you can take dad out for some fishing.

It’s hard to beat the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park for family fun.  There is easy access and if dad is a bit long in the tooth and doesn’t get around too well, there is a golf cart that the folks at Lighthouse View Bait and Tackle will use to carry him out on the pier.  You don’t need any special tackle, a spinning outfit that will handle 10 to 12-pound line, is more then enough to bring in the spot, croaker and kings you can catch on bloodworms.  All of this for just the $5.00 Delaware resident entrance fee (non-residents pay $10.00).  If you already have your Surf Fishing Vehicle Permit than you can get into the park for free.  Just a reminder, the cut off of 17,000 permits is fast approaching.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing Report.
