WGMD Fishing Report 7-2-19

Hermann-Financial

Ken German was fishing the Indian River Inlet using sand fleas and caught these nice 8.2lb black drum and a 3.5lb weakfish.

Family fishing at its finest, the Ocean Drifter fished an overnighter at the Eenan Square tuna weighing up to 39.3lbs and a 39.3lb swordfish. They caught the sword fish using a skip jack fillet. John, David, Carmen and Christian Ostrowski of Wilmington, DE.

Monday was hot and sunny with a bit of a north blow.

I fished the southside of Indian River Inlet with sand fleas from 6:30 till 10:00 AM trying to catch a sheepshead.  I would have had better luck trying to hunt unicorns.  Lots of birds that I think were on hickory shad, but nothing else unless you count oyster toads.

Two seasons opened on Monday.  The summer striped bass season in the Delaware Bay and its tributaries will run until August 31 with a two fish bag limit and a 20 to 25-inch slot.  Tog reopened and will run until December 31 with a 16-inch minimum size and a four-fish bag limit.

Old Inlet said the only report they had were kings in the surf backed up by a post from Scott Jost who had a photo of a double-header he caught at Herring Point.

Captain Aaron Hurd on the Gale Force had four keeper flounder out of the inlet this morning and seven in the afternoon.

Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said bluefin and dolphin are on the inshore lumps.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing Report.
