WGMD Fishing Report 7-3-19

Hermann-Financial

Doc Peoples of Dagsboro, DE, Lex Robertson of Lewes, DE, Kenny Vincent of Dewey Beach, DE, George Kolodi of Smyrna, DE and Jeff Kovatch of Frankford, DE caught 11 yellow fin and 2 mahi fishing the lower end of the Baltimore Canyon using spreader bars and ballyhoo. The largest weighed in at 43lbs.

Pete Hesson of Dagsboro, DE finally caught his “white whale”. This sheepshead was caught using sand fleas on the south side of the Indian River Inlet. It weighed in at 12.6lbs

Tuesday has set the tone for the rest of the holiday week.  Hot with a south to southwest wind.  I don’t expect much change in the fishing and that’s not a bad thing.

The DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation has closed the issuing of surf fishing vehicle permits after reaching the 17,000 limit.  If you ain’t got one you can’t get one until December.  You can expect all but one of those 17,000 to be on the beach this Thursday.  That one missing will be me.

Flounder fishing in the ocean fell off a bit on Tuesday with boats reporting very slow action.  Dan’s Tackle reported that Gina Liberto fished the ocean on Monday with Wayne DaMarko to catch an 18.5 and a 21.25-inch flounder.

The Grizzly had a good catch of flounder, triggerfish and trout from bay structure on Tuesday.  The Pirate King caught trout, kings and blowfish also from bay structure.

Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us the flounder bite was off, but bluefin tuna were caught at the 19-Fathom Lump.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing Report.
