WGMD Fishing Report 8-1-19

Wednesday was a decent fishing day and not much changed as far as the catching went.

One thing that did change was the appearance of croakers on the cleaning table at Lewes Harbour Marina.  The Pirate King and the Angler brought in good numbers of croaker along with kings and a few keeper trout from the Lower Bay reef sites.  Clam and squid were the top baits from the head boats.  If you go on your own boat you might want to try bloodworms or FishBite bloodworms.  Captain Cary Evans on the Grizzly has been doing very well on his half-day trips to the bay catching triggerfish, trout and kings.  On Tuesday the Katydid had a nine-man limit of sea bass plus 25 red hake.  That is a mess of good eating.  The Savannah Lynn is running shark trips for lots of family fun.

Jerry Taylor at Taylored Tackle in Seaford told us snakeheads are being caught from the spillway in Laurel on live bait.  Shallow water with heavy vegetation in the Nanticoke River also holds snakeheads.
