Monday began with calm and humid weather then ended with downpours, lightning and strong winds.

We have spent so much time on the Flounder Pounder Tournament we have neglected some of our regular fishing reports.

Beginning with the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park, Dave at Lighthouse View Tackle said anglers have been filling coolers with spot at high tides.  Flounder action seems to have slowed at the pier.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle reported excellent surf fishing for kings, croaker and spot with bloodworms or FishBite bloodworms the top baits. A few pompano have been caught on sand fleas from the surf.  Croaker have also showed up inside Indian River Inlet.

At Lewes Harbour Marina Amanda said the Persistence had a four-man limit of flounder from ocean structure.  Reel Chaotic released a blue marlin and brought in a couple of dolphin from the south side of the Baltimore Canyon.  Local Girl won fifth place in the Flounder Pounder Sunday Calcutta with a 5.5 pounder caught by Mason Newsham.  Dave Hentrick had a five-pound triggerfish on a clam at the Ice Breakers.
