WGMD Fishing Report – SPECIAL

Saturday saw cold and cloudy skies, but the wind laid out and rockfish came on.  We stopped by Old Inlet Bait and Tackle for their annual Christmas Party and the first thing Clark said was the rockfish are off of Sea Colony.  When we left, we headed to Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em where Burt and Lauren were elbow deep in big rockfish on the cleaning table.

These were nice rock in the 36-inch class and they were big and fat.  From what I could tell, they had been caught on MOJOs or Stretch 25s or 30s off of Bethany Beach.  Remember, trolling speed is as slow as the boat will go.

The marine weather forecast is great right through Wednesday, so if you can get out on the ocean by all means do so.  This is the first run of big rockfish we have had since Super Storm Sandy and as always, it could end just as quickly as it began.

So far everything has been along the oceanfront.  Nothing in the Rips, along the beach or from the inlet.  Land based anglers can always hope.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD Fishing Report.
