Worcester County Fire Marshal Investigates 2 Monday Fires
BERLIN: Berlin firefighters were called to the Ocean’s East Luxury Apartment Homes complex off Seahawk Road just before 5:30 Monday morning. They arrived at the scene to find fire and smoke conditions on a 3rd floor balcony. A neighbor put out most of the fire with a portable fire extinguisher. Crews from Ocean Pines, Ocean City and Showell assisted. The Worcester County Fire Marshal says the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials – no injuries were reported.
GIRDLETREE: A fire on Dukes Road in Girdletree Monday night was accidental. The Worcester County Fire Marshal says the fire was caused by the venting of a wood burning stove. Firefighters from multiple area companies in Worcester, Wicomico and Accomack County, VA assisted the Girdletree Fire Company to put out the fire. No injuries were reported, but a family of 4 was left homeless and is being helped by family and friends.
