MD State Fire Marshal Investigating Mill Street Fire in Greensboro Saturday Morning

Greensboro Volunteer firefighters were called for a structure fire on Mill Street in Greensboro Saturday morning just after 9. Crews found a two-story duplex with two units with fire showing.
Three occupants were alerted to the fire by the occupant of the other unit and escaped safely. The lone occupant in the A unit was able to escape the roof with help of a neighbor with a ladder.
Maryland State Fire Marshal investigators say the fire began on the outside of the residence and the cause is under investigation. One resident was transported for treatment of smoke inhalation. Investigators say there was a smoke alarm present, but it’s unknown if it was activated.
Damage is estimated at $170,000.
