RIP Steve Crane. For many years Thursday morning was Browseabout Day for WGMD – with various guests sitting on the sofa in the ‘chat area.’ When Harry Potter became the biggest thing to hit books in decades, Steve hosted several Harry Potter release parties where the books were available at midnight on release day-night – this picture was from the 2007 Harry Potter party at Browseabout for the 7th book in the series – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” The Talk of Delmarva was on hand for several of those parties. This one included contests, food and at midnight – the books! Sadly, just after the start of 2026, Steve Crane passed away. On the Browseabout Facebook Page, they honored Steve. “It is with heavy hearts that we share that Browseabout founder, Steve Crane, has passed away. Steve was the heart and soul of Browseabout and downtown Rehoboth Beach for nearly 50 years. He loved his family, his staff, his customers, and his friends fiercely. He was a big man with big ideas, big opinions, big laughs, big feelings, and a big heart (that he often wore on his sleeve).” Click for full view
